            According to the Kiersey personality test Ralph the leader of a group of boys in the book The Lord Of The Flies has a personality type of guardian protector. Guardian protectors are interested in the safety and security of those in his circle, friends and fellow workers. They tend to be dutiful, cautious, humble, and focused on credentials and tradition. They are notoriously bad at delegating and are not very out going or talkative. Judging buy the actions of Ralph they make him out to be a guardian protector.

            A guardian protector is not very out going or talkative. Ralph being a guardian protector has this problem, for example when they called a meeting and Ralph had to get up and speak he would lose his train of thought and then piggy would have to help him retrace his thoughts. Ralph couldn’t have just stood up and speak, he would have to go somewhere and be alone. Then think about what he was going to say, he would prepare for the meetings. It would usually take some time.

            Part of being a guardian protector is that they are notoriously bad at delegating. Ralph being a guardian protector chose Jack and the choir to be the hunters and to keep the signal fire going so they could be rescued. Jack and the choir only wanted to hunt. They had no desire to keep the fire going. All they wanted to do was to hunt, get meat, and have a fest. Ralph valued tradition and their culture. Their culture was very civilized. Ralph being a guardian protector wanted to keep things civilized but Jack and the choir didn’t care, they only wanted to hunt, which was very savage like.

            Ralph has a personality of a hard working person and will do the jobs that others manage to avoid. When the shelters were being built he helped build all three. The first one everyone helped to build, the second him and a few, and on the last one it was just Ralph and Simon. He was very over worked and tired.

            When Ralph has trouble getting up in front of the group of boys and talking, he shows that he is not very out going or talkative. Ralph also chose Jack and the choir to take care of the hunting and keep the signal fire going, which proves that he is bad at delegating; Ralph like a guardian protector is a hard working person. These actions match to the personality type of a guardian protector according to the Kiersey personality test.
