The character Simon from the Lord of the Flies, has a personality type of Idealist Counselor. An Idealist, Counselor is a personality on which most are spiritual, kindhearted, and giving people. Simon was a calm shy character in the story. He always had his head in the clouds and was distant from the other boys. Some counselors might suffer from abstract thoughts and speech, even sometimes psychic phenomena.

Simon was extremely sensitive to the other boys. He was always making sure that the little ones had food to eat. Simon had shown his sensitivity in the story lots of times. One example is he picked up Piggy=s glasses after Jack had thrown them.

Extreme sensitivity to others could very well be the reason that some Counselor=s may experience a whole array of psychic phenomena. He was the only one who knew what the beast really was. The beast was man=s one true illness. It was the evil and savage part of every person and society. Simon also knew that he would never leave the island alive.

Some Idealist Counselors have abstract thought and speech. Throughout the story Simon could never put his thoughts into words. He could not express in words to the other boys what the beast was. Simon also knew he would not leave the island but he could never say why. A small portion of Counselors may experience some illness or diseases. Some people believe that Simon suffered from epilepsy.

Simon throughout the story knew what the beast was although he could never put it into words. A small percentage of Counselors= suffer from psychic phenomena and abstract speech and thoughts.  Thus, Simon would be an Idealist Counselor.
